Day 1: 

Welcome to Turkey and the start of your ANZAC experience! Private transfer to hotel. Remainder of day and evening at leisure in a city that straddles the crossroads of two continents. Overnight - Istanbul

Day 2: Istanbul - breakfast

A guided tour of this classic city takes in the Hippodrome area, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia (exterior only - as closed Mon) and more. Included lunch at a local restaurant. This afternoon, we embark on a Bosphorus cruise. Tonight enjoy traditional Turkish cuisine at a top restaurant. Lunch, dinner and overnight - Istanbul

Day 3: Istanbul - Gallipoli - breakfast

Very early departure to the WW1 battlefields on Gallipoli Peninsular. This afternoon, we take in a fully guided tour of the evocative war memorials (where subject to traffic from time to time we can get off and explore) of the evocative war memorials that dot the region, for example, Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair, the trenches, battlefields and small ANZAC museum (subject to timings) and memorial gardens. We’ll also enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Tonight we’ll have dinner before transferring to ANZAC Cove for the famous atmosphere-charged ANZAC Eve vigil. Small blankets and collapsible stools are provided. Lunch, dinner, then overnight at the Dawn Service site (ANZAC Cove)

Day 4: ANZAC Day: Gallipoli - Assos - picnic breakfast & lunch

Dawn heralds the start of the Dawn Service. Breakfast will be served afterwards at a picnic spot. Later, we travel to to Lone Pine or Chunuk Bair respectively where until the National services of Australia or New Zealand commence, we can independently explore some of the many memorials and trenches. After the services, a light picnic luncheon will be served. We depart mid afternoon and drive to coastal Assos, where we check into our hotel and enjoy a well-earned rest after such an emotion-charged day. (timings on 25 April subject to coach traffic). Dinner and overnight - Assos

Day 5: Assos - Kusadasi - breakfast

Leaving Assos, we enjoy a guided tour of the awesome Roman ruins of Pergamum, home to one of the steepest amphitheatres in the classical world. We continue to coastal Kusadasi. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight - Kusadasi

Day 6: Kusadasi - Pamukkale - breakfast

From Kusadasi, we partake in a guided tour at the fantastically preserved Roman ruins of Ephesus. We then continue to Pamukkale. Dinner and overnight - Pamukkale

Day 7: Pamukkale - Istanbul - breakfast

One of the most enduring images of Turkey is of the white calcium terraced pools of Pamukkale, known locally as the ‘Cotton Castles’. Perhaps opt for a dip in the surrounding mineral-rich waters of Pamukkale Thermal. En route back to Istanbul, we visit a carpet dyeing, weaving and manufacturing house. Arrival in Istanbul is late this evening. Overnight - Istanbul

Day 8: Istanbul - breakfast

End of arrangements.

Topkapi Palace is closed on Tuesdays, whilst the Hagia Sofia is closed on Mondays. Please consider this when booking. Grand Bazaar and Egyptian Spice Market are both closed on Sundays.
